#AntiShock User's Manual - Memetic Structure - #Anonymous - #AnonFamily - #OpESR - #OpRadar - #Solidarity

We have two sets of labels to make it easy to understand where you are in a model. One set is made up of the operation tags. The other is made up of the question labels what, who, why, and how. They both point to the same Anti Shock object. Here we introduce Operation Radar (what), Operation Shield (who), Operation Pulse (why), Operation Shadow (how). Because the current is the only independent object in the model, it behaves as if it has a purpose all its own and so we label it who. While you’re becoming familiar with these labels, pay close attention to whether a label fits a general category or a specific item from a category. What’s important is to have a sense of scale and scope. Is it a general category or a specific item? For example, traffic is a general idea, a car is more specific.

OpRadar deals with memetic energy. The simplest kind of memetic energy is a list. You could have a list of things you need for a camping trip. Your list probably has a mix of general categories like tent equipment and specific things like tent stakes and hammer. Pay close attention to what generates the list.

OpShield deals with memetic current. A current should be a uniform stream of smaller elements. An obvious example is electrons in a current, but anything that moves consistently will do. What’s important is that this current will flow through all the objects in an Anti Shock model. Pay close to who sustains the electrons moving together.

OpPulse deals with memetic affinity. An affinity is a loop around one to four points in a model. There can be more points in the course of the loop, but they will generally be the same four points repeated. One example is a removing the water from a flooded house with buckets. The buckets must be filled, emptied, and returned. Pay close attention to why the work is organized the way it is.

OpShadow deals with memetic resonances. A resonance changes the amount or flow of energy in various ways. A strobing system for a dance club has such resonances. The electric current in a system of lights has to be split, delayed, redirected, and synchronized with the music. Pay close attention to how the path a current flows is selected.

Assembly of First Nations Declares National Days of Remembrance and Action to End Violence Against #Indigenous Peoples - #SpreadThis #SOLIDARITY

I Pledge End Violence

OTTAWA, Oct. 4, 2012 /CNW/ - Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo today pledged to act to end violence against and among all Indigenous peoples in Canada, and identified two specific dates in October to honour missing and murdered Indigenous women.

“Ending violence against and among Indigenous peoples is a priority every day. Today we stand in honour the too many women who have lost their lives to violence and those whom remain missing,” said AFN National Chief Shawn Atleo during the Sisters in Spirit gathering on Parliament Hill today. “We continue to stand in support of the individuals, families and friends impacted by violence, and we will not do it quietly. We are encouraging Indigenous peoples and all Canadians to join the pledge to live without violence and to act now to achieve safe and secure communities for all of us.”

In July 2012, First Nation leaders declared October 4 a National Day of Remembrance for murdered and missing Indigenous women in Canada. National Chief Atleo today called for a commitment by the Government of Canada for National Public Commission of Inquiry on the unresolved cases of murdered and missing Indigenous women in Canada. October 18 has been identified as a national day of action to end violence, and AFN is encouraging community-based action across the regions focused on violence prevention and safety and security for all Indigenous peoples.

“Action is required now - to achieve justice and to ensure our peoples are safe, and this includes a commitment by the Government of Canada for a National Public Commission of Inquiry on the unresolved cases of missing and murdered Aboriginal women in this country,” said National Chief Atleo. “I have pledged, along with First Nations, other Indigenous leaders, Premiers and territorial leaders, to live violence free and to ensure I do everything in my power to achieve safety and security for all Indigenous peoples. I encourage all communities and Indigenous citizens to tell their stories and seek support, and today I challenge all Canadians to make the pledge, sign a postcard, tell your story.”

In July, thousands of people, including national Indigenous leaders, Premiers and territorial leaders, made a public declaration to live violence free by signing their name to a banner pledging to live without violence. AFN is encouraging all Canadians to make the same pledge which is now available online at www.afn.ca

With support from CUPE National, AFN is also leading a postcard writing campaign urging Prime Minister Stephen Harper to commit to a National Public Commission of Inquiry on Murdered and Missing Indigenous women in Canada. Other action could include awareness activities, such as inviting local police for an information sharing session, community marches or feasts.

In February of 2012 AFN hosted a national justice forum that culminated in a national strategy to end violence against Indigenous women and girls adopted by Chiefs-in-Assembly July 2012. In 2013 and in collaboration with the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC), AFN will convene a second National Forum on Justice and Community Safety with focus on murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls, and broader actions to end violence.

AFN continues to work with NWAC, and consistently advocates in support of First Nation individuals and families impacted by violence that seek justice, and for adequate and appropriate health supports and preventative measures to better ensure communities are safe.

City's eviction plan awakens #Stockton #Occupy protesters ~ #OpESR #Solidarity

Occupy movement says Stockton isn’t doing enough to inform homeless of alternative places to go for help, shelter

Top Photo
The city of Stockton is planning to evict homeless campers such as these this morning along Harrison Street across from St. Mary’s Interfaith Community Services.
~

STOCKTON - Charles Oak Sr., 67, has a bad heart and is in desperate need of a pacemaker. He lives in the 400 block of South Harrison Street. Well, actually, not on the street. On the sidewalk. In a tent.

Arturo Morales, 23, works picking fruit. When he returns home after a hot day toiling under the sun, it’s to a shady spot created by Aurora Street as it passes over Mormon Slough.

The men said Tuesday they’ve been notified by police or other city representatives that they must move off the street or out of the slough this morning. Officer Joe Silva, a spokesman for the Stockton Police Department, said authorities plan to arrive about 8:30.

Morales and Oak said they’ve nowhere to go, and the city hasn’t provided them with any help or alternative places to sleep. They’re representative of about 200 people living in the areas being targeted for eviction by city officials today.

“We always have room for people,” said Susan Valdez, a senior shelter aide at Stockton Shelter for the Homeless, which provides space for both families and single women. “A lot of them do not want to come in because of the drug situation. If we don’t have any beds for them, we put them on mats on the floor. We always have room for mats.”

Police are targeting the area because of concerns of crime, blight and improper sanitation, Silva said. He raised concerns over people living in unstable structures without access to running water and the possibility for violence against those residing in the camps.

Officers commonly respond to assaults, robberies, reports of drug use and prostitution in the area. As part of Wednesday’s effort, police are hoping to make contact with those in the camps who’ve been victimized to direct them to support agencies, he said.

“We are going down there to provide for their safety,” Silva said.”

Members of Occupy Stockton came out Tuesday to protest the city’s plans to evict and ask that the process be halted. Occupier Temaya Ledeux said her group wants to talk with city officials about considering alternative open sites near existing homeless services to where those living on the streets could move.

“We have a proposal. There are lots of empty parking lots and empty buildings. The city is required to find access to living space, sanitation. I think their priorities are skewed. We need to start caring about people more than the almighty dollar,” Ledeux said.

Occupier and high school teacher Diana Buettner said her group’s intent wasn’t to be disruptive. “We live here, too, and want to be part of the solution. These people are not homeless - they are without houses. It’s really sad. They are not disposable.”

About a dozen Occupy Stockton members and homeless people marched Tuesday morning on sidewalks from in front of St. Mary’s Interfaith Community Services to Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza in front of City Hall, where they posted signs, set up tables and chairs and pitched tents to bring attention to their cause.

“We see the problem. Everybody’s welcome to come down and help try to solve this problem,” Buettner said.

About 12 people who were living near St. Mary’s set up five tents Tuesday evening in downtown Stockton. They were joined by Occupy Stockton as a protest against the impending eviction.
The Stockton Police Department allowed the small group of demonstrators to camp for the evening across from the cineplex.

Aboriginal Day : Celebrating Aboriginal people and culture (Video) ~ #Canada

Lots of fun and games planned for Aboriginal Day
During the month of June communities across Canada will be celebrating Aboriginal people and culture. On Friday, June 15, the 13th annual Aboriginal Day celebration is happening at the Heritage Pavilion in Stony Plain.

A number of partners are joining together to host the event including Parkland County, Town of Stony Plain, Alberta Parenting for the Future, Aboriginal Parent Link Center, McMan, Alberta Health Services, Paul First Nation Administration, Paul First Nation Health & Community Wellness, Alexander First Nation, Native Counselling Services of Alberta, Edmonton and Area Child and Family Services Authority.

Aboriginal Day is open to the public and organizers are predicting that they will see more than 2,000 people attend including local schools.

“The purpose of Aboriginal Day is to bring people from various Aboriginal communities together with the out lying communities that are around us,” said co-chair, Aboriginal Day planning committee and manager, Stony Plain/ Spruce Grove Office, Edmonton Region Child and Family Services, Edward Garrick.

“This time of year we celebrate indigenous people in Canada by recognizing who’s in our neighbourhood. We get together to celebrate what are those aspects of the various cultures. The key is to open that door for non-Aboriginal people to come and start experiencing these different aspects that Aboriginal people bring to our community.”

Garrick also said that each year the event continues to grow and that they are encouraged by the enthusiastic participation of partner’s, whom of which this event would not be possible.

The day starts at 9 am with a traditional grand entry and prayers. There will be many activities to explore throughout the day including craft tables, tiny tots tee pee, the popular Northern Inuit Games, a petting zoo, traditional regalia fashion show, information booths and various vendors.

Progress Can Kill (Video)

Forcing ‘development’ or ‘progress’ on tribal people does not make them happier or healthier. In fact, the effects are disastrous. The most important factor by far for tribal peoples’ well-being is whether their land rights are respected.

‘Progress’ is questioned less today than ever before; it is simply thought to be
good for all. Current notions of progress date from the colonial era, when the taking of resources and labour was supposedly justified by the giving of ‘civilisation’.

So what is progress? For the poor citizens of the poorer nations, its main pillars are schooling, which they hope leads to more money, and healthcare, which they pray
brings longer life. Progress can kill does not challenge this: some do see their dreams fulfilled, though others just get poorer. It is different for tribal peoples, particularly those with less contact with outsiders.

Forcing ‘progress’ on them never brings a longer, happier life, but a shorter, bleaker existence only escaped in death. It has destroyed many peoples and threatens many more. There are tribes who are aware of this and choose to remain isolated. Others have a closer relationship with outsiders – some of these receive healthcare intended to mitigate the devastation they face. But in a deadly catch-22, the ‘modern’ healthcare available to tribal peoples – even in the richest nations – is never enough to counter the effects of introduced diseases and the devastation caused by losing their land.

This study does not deny the genius and achievements of science, or support a romantic view that harks back to a mythic golden age. Nor is it a rejection of change – all societies change always.

The truth is that tribes who live on their own land – controlling their own adaptation to a changing world – are poor in monetary terms, but their quality of life and health is often visibly better than their compatriots. Indices show that when tribal peoples are forced off their land, their health and well-being plummet, while rates of depression, addiction and suicide soar. These are provable facts.

Recent attempts to measure ‘happiness’ indifferent populations bring no surprises to
those familiar with tribes still in control of their own lives: the world’s richest billionaires are no happier than the average Maasai herder.

Projects which remove tribes from their land and impose ‘progress’ cause untold misery. This is not surprising: ‘progress’ – the conviction that ‘we’ know best – shares with colonialism the effect of taking over native lands and resources. Tribal peoples do not survive it. On the other hand, when on their own land choosing their own development, they simply thrive.

Peggielene Bartels, A.K.A. King Peggy, is currently the King of Otuam, Ghana. She was chosen to be one of only three female kings in Ghana, and when she discovered that male chauvinists wanted her to only be a figurehead, she said: “They were treating me like I am a second-class citizen because I am a woman. I said, ‘Hell no, you’re not going to do this to a woman!’” When she encountered corruption and the threat of embezzlement to the royal funds, she declared “I’m going to squeeze their balls so hard their eyes pop!”
King Peggy has maintained her work in Ghana’s embassy in Washington, D.C. while making education affordable in Otuam, installing borehead wells to produce clean drinking water, enforcing incarceration laws to deal with domestic violence, replenishing the royal coffers by taxing Otuam’s fishing industry to improve life in the village, and appointing three women to her council.
“Nobody should tell you, ‘You’re a woman, you can’t do it,’” she insists. “You can do it. Be ready to accept it when the calling comes.”

#Nahua community in #Mexico seeing its land defenders killed off one by one - #DGR #FreedomFighters

xayakalan_1-300x225

By Maria Sanchez  / Upside Down World

Tucked between sand dunes and the Pacific Ocean, perched on a small hill, is Xayakalan, home to members of the indigenous community, Santa Maria Ostula. Here, the sound of waves hitting the shore mixes with the cries of children playing among the wooden huts. Against this beautiful backdrop, a group of Mexican Nahua people are fighting to keep control of their land. The cost has been high.

Since 2009, this small community of around 3, 000 people has seen 28 of its members killed. Another four are missing. Those who dare step up to defend their indigenous rights are picked off one by one.

The Nahua people live on over 24,000 hectors of land, which they use for fishing and growing crops. They speak passionately of how the earth provides for them. Maria, not her real name, describes how she feeds her family from crops she grows outside her house. “Food is easy to come by here,” she states. “And the ocean always gives us a good meal.”

Maria and her community, unlike other groups of indigenous people, have maintained unbroken control of their land since before the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century. The community, in the past, has been successful in keeping invaders at bay. This time, they fear they will not be so successful.

Plans by local government to develop the coastline for tourism have stirred up old rivalries in the area. A land dispute going back to the early1900s has once again reared its head. And this time, the stakes are high. Around 1,300 hectors of unspoilt land running from the coast up into the mountains is being targeted for development.

The Nahua people say that their community owns the rights to the land and have the legal papers to prove it. This claim is disputed by a group of local businessmen, who say the land was privatized in 1911 and that it belongs to them.

To stake claim to this uninhabited stretch of coastline, local businessmen from the nearby town, La Placita, moved onto the land in early June 2009. One man in his fifties, who declined to give his name, explained how the businessmen started giving away plots of land to those willing to join them in the fight against the Ostulan community. “They started building houses,” he stated. “They planted crops. Just like the local politicians they wanted to develop the land for tourism.”

People from Ostula asked local government to intervene on their behalf. Their appeals were ignored. Some in the Nahua community believe that local government is involved. “The government was in agreement with those on the land,” states one woman. Others nod in agreement, but are reluctant to say so out loud.

Towards the middle of June 2009, the community, tired of standing by while others occupied their land, decided to take action. The Nahua called a regional indigenous meeting, which was attended by neighboring indigenous communities. “At the assembly it was decided that we would fight for what is ours,” said Juan, not his real name. Juan explained how around 60 members of Ostula took back the 1,300 hectors that had been taken from them. “They greeted us with gun shots,” he said. “But through sheer number of people we managed to overcome them and drive them out.”

To protect the stretch of beach from further development, around 40 Nahua families set up home in the dunes. What started out as a strong movement in defense of their land has dwindled significantly today, with less than 15 families remaining. People are reluctant to explain why this has happened. And considering the daily threat of violence this is not surprising.

In October of last year, Pedro Leiva Dominguez, spokesperson for the community and member of the Mexican peace movement, was shot dead in Xayakalan. Nobody there is prepared to talk about his murder and who was involved.

“It was a family problem,” a man in his late fifties said.

“It was over an argument,” said one woman.

Pedro was not the first to lose his life defending his community and he would not be the last.

Since driving the local businessmen from the land, the community of Ostula has been constantly under threat of attack by the local drug cartel. This situation is further complicated by the presence of paramilitary groups operating in the area alongside organized crime.

The community is isolated and increasing vulnerable. Those who step up to protect the community do so at their own risk. Many of those who have been killed or kidnapped were the pillar stones of the Ostulan community, without them, the others fear that their movement will fail.

Just before Christmas, the community lost one more member. Don Trino, head of the community police, was abducted while traveling with members of the Mexican Peace Movement, headed by Javier Sicilia. His body was found the next day. He had been shot at point blank range and his body showed signs of torture. Those who knew him talk of his dedication to the cause. Those who remain seem determined to stay, however it is yet to be seen if dedication alone will save them.
