Why I Support the Worldwide Wave of Action, Daniel Pinchbeck
We are running out of time to change the direction of our civilization…. I support the Worldwide Wave of Action because I believe we can – we must – rise to this challenge by building a planetary movement of civil society toward rapid, systemic change. I hope and I pray that you will join us. (read more)
World Wide Wave of Action looks to New Iberia, Louisiana, Dylan Ratigan
The World Wide Wave of Action is a push to evolve awareness; millions from all backgrounds coming together to express their vision for a better more connected world. Russell Brand describes it as the ultimate evolution in consciousness. I hope the essence of this cause becomes an expansion of thinking by people from all cultures. World Wide Wave of Action should focus on manifesting local solutions… here is a direct example of what I imagine the World Wide Wave of Action could inspire, if we the people expand our thinking and act with conscious precision. Making Waves Across Our Nation and the World, Jacob Devaney
This has come to a head, first with Citizens United, and now with McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission. Though it is a coup d’etat for private enterprise that has seized control of the commons and our republic, it is a sand-castle alone on the beach as a wave crests above it. Thankfully we live in the digital era and there is a world wide wave of action beginning on April 4th. (read more)
Riding The Wave Of Action, Rivera Sun
On April 4th, the worldwide Wave of Action launches, rolling out sequences of nonviolent actions, gatherings, and events for three months until the final crescendo on July 4th. With over 600 organizations around the world participating, it seems likely that the swell of activity will demonstrate how much the Movement of Movements for social, economic, political and environmental justice has grown. Waves of Nationwide Actions Planned at Key Historic Moment, Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers
By expanding our ongoing protests, resistance and creation of the world we want to see during this time period and acting under a common banner of the #WaveOfAction people will see that rather than shrinking, as the media would like people to believe, the popular movement for social, economic and environmental justice is actually growing. This is the reality of our times: the world is facing multiple crises at the same time. As the popular movement intentionally escalates its actions, we will be in position to highlight these crises and to quickly escalate further if events occur that create an opportunity for rapid growth. These are times that demand each of us to step up and do more. The opportunities for rapid growth of the social movement created by the dysfunction of the rule- by-money-government are increasing in ways we can only imagine. (read more)

#WaveOfAction Is Coming, The Time Is Now To Prepare, David Swanson
If there was ever a moment to put survival and well-being ahead of politeness and obedience, this is that moment. The weather is right. The climate is right. The experience is fresh, but the participants rested. April 4th is opening day. Will you throw out the first pitch in your town? Will you do it now? Will you re-occupy everything and never give it back? This is not for show this time. This is not to send a message. This is not to make a few friends. This is to make millions of friends. This is to change the course of our culture. This is the big leagues. Rest up. Get ready. Know your power. (read more)

#LONDON - #UK - #RIOTS
Media anti-spin: For the benefit of those among my American countrymen who are wondering just what’s happened to the UK
You know why the English are rioting? What nobody will say? It’s backlash against arming the English cops, who already have a terrible track record with human rights. They stood strong through everything the Irish could deliver without arming the police force with guns, but now that an American-style false flag attack has undone the century-plus effort to keep guns out of the police’s hands when unnecessary, those same brutal, thickheaded cops have gone and shot someone, and now they don’t know how to cover it up. Unlike America, England doesn’t have much practice in covering up police-related public shootings. The people of the communities which previosly had NOT been patrolled by armed, under-trained tea servers are now understandably mad about this turn of events. The government/police and media are making it worse by trying to quash the situation through the delays of official apathy (“we MUST wait for the results of the official inquiry before we even speculate about what caused this!” can be heard in the news media over and over, effectively attempting to postpone any meaningful discussion of just WHY the riots have happened until such discussion has been made inactionable by the passage of time), as well as by minimizing the meaning of what the rioters are actually doing. The BBC will never tell you that pub catered almost exclusively to a police clientele, only that rioters trashed it. They won’t tell you that people are taking the things dangled in front of their faces by capitalism which they can’t afford because they’ve been denied the opportunity for acquiring weath, just that people are stealing and surely that’s black-and-white wrong, right? The media would rather quote some dumbass patrol officer blaming Grand Theft Auto IV on the BBC, asserting that the Pac-Man era didn’t have any riots and everybody was nice back then, which is total bullshit, see Brixton 1981, and the Handsworth race riots of the 80’s and 90’s. Why are the English so mad? Because their cops are so incompetent they shot someone on accident who completely didn’t deserve it, tried their damndest to cover it up and keep people from reacting in horror and outrage, and oh yeah, the people affected are just sick of being fucked with, period. England should have seen this coming and could have stopped it. They should have learned their lesson the numerous times it’s happened before. But the English authorities and media are still behaving as if the old caste system is in effect, and it’s all just “A problem with controlling the under classes.” Other things they viewed this way: The American Revolution, Ghandi.
Now they’re sweeping up thousands of their own citizens indiscriminately in mass arrests, which begs the question: what happens when you have a sudden influx of prisoners dumped into prisons for rioting? Typical English response: bad idea after bad idea, all of which punish others and sidestep the need for those in power to be mature about what they do in the eyes of their people.
What the English authorities are faced with is an active illustration of a very simple principle, one which is anathema to the deep-set elitism among any ruling class: those who lead are beholden to those who agree to let themselves be lead. Without the cooperation of the masses authority means nothing, it’s the mere opinion of arrogant and disempowered ; if consent is lost, and the measures which previously had been used to enforce the consensual order (IE police) are reduced to a role of mere physical violence to try to stem the tide of disobedience, then the elite become little better than, and different from, the rioters themselves. As an example of this, look how quickly rights are suspended and laws “set aside” for the sake of restoring order, thus allowing the elite to take any measures they deem necessary outside the bounds of law. Keep in mind that law is put in place to protect citizens from abuse of authority! This is no different from a rioter’s way of breaking social order, yet it is de rigeur in our modern society. One need hardly look strange to have their rights suspended anymore…
The elite depend upon those below them to define their own position; to admit a responsibility to treat those below fairly in order to maintain that position is basic reasoning, yet it clashes with the arrogance needed to maintain that elite position.
England has a deeply entrenched culture of social divisiveness. Ever wonder why a country the size of Oregon ended up with so many regional permutations of accents? It’s because despite practically living on one anothers’ doorsteps geographically, the English are raised with very strict ideas about who belongs to what social class and why, with most conformity enforced via overwhelming peer pressure. (“Mind your accent.” “Don’t go thinking your posh or something.” “You’ve got Manc eyebrows but sound like a Scouser!”) The result is a situation where individuals are raised living alongside large social groups from which they are physically no different, but which they have been socially prevented from interacting with, assimilating with, or emulating. Thus convinced that these people are fundamentally different from themselves, an individual can now allow or even justify radically different treatment of members of that “other” class much more easily. This is just as common in the “under” classes as it is among the elite, by the way, illustrating that there is no side of this conflict which is really more enlightened at the outset than the other. That’s right America, you think the fight between “blacks” and “whites” here is bad, just imagine what it would be like if both sides of the argument looked the same, only one had a last name starting with O’ or Mac’, or just had red hair, or just had ancestors from Limehouse who didn’t get a very good education, or one was just a little retarded from years of royalist inbreeding yet rich beyond all reason.
Faced with that kind of bullshit, smashing windows to get what you want, and throwing rocks at murderous, arrogant, untrained cops who are firmly entrenched in an outmoded social caste system seems just a bit more reasonable, doesn’t it? I’m not advocating a violent approach to social change, or wanton disregard for authority. But by the same token I would like to point out that sometimes violence is a logical outcome for authority which wantonly disregards social change and the welfare of its people. Right or wrong, these things happen for a reason, and it has nothing to do with video games.
Download Auto-BAHN Emergency Messaging App for Android Mobile phones could soon be helping in the aftermath of disasters by becoming an ad-hoc message passing network.
Computer scientist Thomas Wilhelm has developed software that lets data hop from phone to phone.
Messages sent via the application gradually migrates towards its intended target to keep communication going when other routes are closed.
The system could also help protesters in nations that routinely switch off networks to quell unrest.
Called Auto-BAHN, the project was unveiled at the DefCon hacker conference in Las Vegas in early August.
To pass messages the software uses the Bluetooth short-range radio technology and wi-fi that are ubiquitous on smartphones.
After a disaster, owners of phones that have the Auto-BAHN application can search for other users of it and pass on a message. Once sent, the message propagates across the network of other Auto-BAHN using phones until it gets to its intended target.
It could prove helpful during disasters and alert emergency services to the location of survivors.
Mr Wilhelm has produced an application that puts Auto-BAHN on Android phones and is working on one for the iPhone.
The applications are just to prove the concept works, he said, as he is trying to convince smartphone makers to have a similar system included as standard on their gadgets.

The London riots are being blamed in part on the encrypted Blackberry Messenger service British youth are using to communicate. Blackberry manufacturer RIM has pledged to cooperate with the police. Now hackers have hit back, and are threatening to release sensitive information if RIM gives up rioters’ Blackberry info.
The hacking squad Team P0isoN defaced the official Blackberry blog with this statement a few minutes ago:
You Will _NOT_ assist the UK Police because if u do innocent members of the public who were at the wrong place at the wrong time and owned a blackberry will get charged for no reason at all, the Police are looking to arrest as many people as possible to save themselves from embarrassment…. if you do assist the police by giving them chat logs, gps locations, customer information & access to peoples BlackBerryMessengers you will regret it, we have access to your database which includes your employees information; e.g – Addresses, Names, Phone Numbers etc. – now if u assist the police, we _WILL_ make this information public and pass it onto rioters…. do you really want a bunch of angry youths on your employees doorsteps? Think about it…. and don’t think that the police will protect your employees, the police can’t protect themselves let alone protect others….. if you make the wrong choice your database will be made public, save yourself the embarrassment and make the right choice. don’t be a puppet.
Team Poison boasted on its Twitter account, “This hack took less then 5mins, very very embarrasing for the company and the feds.” The group seems to have a thing for Great Britain (and grammar errors); in June they published what they claimed was former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s address book, in retaliation for his role in the Iraq war.
Although RIM has said it will assist authorities “in any way we can,” it’s unclear exactly how much help they could be to police. The strong encryption on its BBM messages is one of its main selling points, and RIM has claimed that even it can’t decrypt users’ messages. Maybe RIM will shut down the whole BBM system, as some are speculating. Though seems like it will only further inflame rioters—not to mention avenging hackers.

I finally got around to paying Leake Street a visit. Host for the famous Cans festivals and sometimes referred to as the Banksy tunnels, it is a vibrant place for graffiti, with new pieces being created on top of old ones on almost a daily basis.
