Today’s situation in Libya is reminiscent of what the US was doing in Afghanistan in the 1980s when were supporting anti-Soviet rebels then called the Mujahedeens, argues former CIA Philip Giraldi. Today the Mujahedeens are known as the Taliban. In Libya America is aiding Libyan rebels who may in fact be members of al-Qaeda. He says the US is making the same mistakes in Libya that they did in Afghanistan three decades ago.
